...If you are in a melancholic mood
Then maybe crowded touristic places are not for you. Think of something beautiful and relaxing. But what can be more beautiful and relaxing than an exclusive resort on a reclusive island? Relax, rejuvenate and rediscover yourself within turquoise waters and pristine beaches of Caribbean. Due to a recession you can take an advantage of special promotions and discounts on almost any resorts and spas on any Caribbean island, just choose the island, buy a new swimming suite and go!

There are plenty of tours and trips for singles, designed only for women or for men or mixed groups. It is an opportunity to try something new or something you always wanted to try, meet new people and make new friends. How does Patagonia trip sound? Take a journey from Buenos Aires to the tip of South America, visit a colony with thousands of penguins, tour Tierra del, trek on a glacier, and stay at a ranch on the pampas. Or maybe conquer the Colorado River on pontoon-style motorized rafts is a great idea for you! See red rock country of Sedona and Grand Canyon on this scenic float trip and take a chance to see Las Vegas. Trust me Vegas is an adventure itself!

...If you are in a cultural educational mood
Then visiting places with a rich cultural heritage is just what a doctor ordered! Greece, Italy and Spain are fantastic destinations for art, history and culture lovers. You always wanted to go to Rome – great place to go solo. On one hand Rome is full of historical and art treasures to see, on the other hand it is full of places to hang out at night. And in Rome the romance is always in the air. Barcelona is also fantastic place to visit for singles all genders and sexual preferences. The city with its architectural jewels will preoccupy you during the day and its dynamic night life will swallow you at night. It is difficult not to encounter other singles when in Barcelona.

...If you are in a scientific research mood
If your interest in scientific exploration goes beyond watching public television, for your solo vacation join one of volunteer vacations that get you close to the action alongside scientists in the field. You can carry chimps in Uganda or research reptiles in Belize or find skulls in Tanzania or help turtles in Costa Rica. Choices are endless! Volunteer vacations are great opportunity to visit remoter locations, learn a lot and meet other like-minded volunteers. Don’t think that volunteer vacation wouldn’t cost you anything. It does cost and sometimes it could be expensive, taking into account that accommodations are usually less than desirable.

...If you are in a creative mood
As any creative person, you require time away from your homes, your city and your daily life of thought and imagination. You are ‘breathing’ by getting out and experiencing the majesty of nature. Without this you would be easily trapped in your own thoughts, and your creative impulses and works suffer as a result. There are many artist retreats practically in any beautiful natural location. You don’t have to see yourself as a professional artist, you just have to appreciate natural beauty and like being around creative people. Or you can create your own sanctuary, just rent a cabin in any picturesque place, away from other people and noisy cities.
...If you are in a shopping mood
Then go straight to New York. Of course there are great European shopping destinations such as Paris, London, Rome and Milan, but taking into account that dollar is still weaker than euro and pound, shopping in New York is much cheaper idea. And New York can easily satisfy any kind of shopaholics, from luxury to bargain lovers. Plus, if you tired of shopping, in New York you’ll find all kind of other activities, you name it we have it! Food, culture, night life and even nature (we have parks and beaches).
...If you are in a flirting mood
Well, then any big city will do! Of course New York is number one (we all know where Sex and the City took place), but cities like London, Paris, Rome or Amsterdam with its intensive and diverse night life also are great destinations to meet singles.

Then there are many budget destinations for you. And due to a recession many travel destinations became much cheaper than they were a year ago. Take advantage of the recession prices and visit countries which you always wanted to visit. For example, Eastern European countries such as Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia and Ukraine are inexpensive, each of them has a very unique culture and a very dynamic night life. Therefore these countries attract a lot of travelers and you’ll have a chance not only learn about local customs and meet locals, but also other travelers from around the world.

There are also special cruses for singles. These singles cruses are carefully designed for people pertaining to the unmarried state with special singles events, parties and other fun activities. Great hub! I think it's fun to take my car and get off the beaten track and explore the US. So many interesting places to visit. Thank you for all the vacation suggestions.
I liked your idea on various reasons for traveling but the best was the Saving mood and the Not in the mood for anything. That is relaxation.
Yes I have been to New York once few years back and believe me New York is full of departmental stores, boutiques, shopping malls and markets. If someone is traveling to New York for the first time then he/she should not forget to visit Kings Plaza shopping center & Marina, Manhattan Mall, Queens Center, Staten Island Mall, South Street Seaport and Trump Tower. By the way I must say I found your hub quite unique and interesting.
South America is definitely where the adventure is. Especially like you mentioned down in Argentina.

Traveling is great pleasure no matter you travel alone or in groups with friends or family. And, your journey also depends on what purpose you go.
Fabulous post, lots of great ideas! I couldn't vote above because I want to do all of them! Rome is my personal favorite, kudos for including a photo from one of my most beloved spots to watch the sunset...
mmm, cool!
Nice post. I would enjoy a good relaxation myself. The info here are great. Thanks.
Great ideas. I've always enjoyed solo travelling. I find it to be incredibly freeing and adventurous and I've met wonderful people and have had great experiences. One of my favorite trips was renting an apartment in Tuscany for a week and driving the countryside and shopping in the local markets. Gps was a life saver!... afraid to say that I might still be driving around if I didn't have one. Another great time was renting a cottage on St. Lucia... gorgeous! Great Scuba diving and zip lining... Can't wait to plan a new adventure.
I would take the last listed option in your Hub - I can't get enough of cruises!
Fantastic hub. I love to travel solo! You always seem to find something exciting to do and meet a bunch of new people.
I have to admit, taking a cruise would be awesome but I have never been on one.

Nice hub! I would love to try those rapids for some wild adventure.
I just got back from a trip by myself to India. even though it was not designed to give me distance or new perspective, I think it did both. Every marriage and relationship benefits from a little bit of distance every few years or so.
nice article.... informative for different kinds of travelers!
I've travelled alone. It isn't always the best way to do things, but if you can't find anyone else to do it with, well sometimes you've just got to do it. This hub has lots of helpful advice. A great resource.

Great article! As a person who has taken quite a few vacations by myself, I really enjoyed this and it gives great ideas of what to do on a solo vacation. Thanks so much for linking to my article. I will also do the same to yours. I'm really interested in volunteering with sea turtles in Costa Rica as well. Last summer I saw 2 laying eggs on the beach which was incredible, so I can only imagine how amazing it would be to spend more time with them.
